Broadening Horizons
Last week, Team Chaos Head Coach George Avery mentioned some exciting plans he had for the team this off-season. The sports media has been buzzing ever since, with wild speculations about what the unorthodox coach might have up his sleeve.
Will Team Chaos be moving to the NHL next season? Is George Avery coming out of retirement to play again? Would the players be going on tour with a new version of The Lion King on Ice? Will every player be asked to live together in a mountain cabin for MTV’s The Real World – Breckenridge?
When the announcement came out that there would be a special press conference at Team Chaos headquarters this week, national and international media representatives descended on Westminster, CO in hopes that the secret plan would finally be divulged.
The atmosphere in the press room was filled with electricity as a Team Chaos representative took the podium and made this special announcement. “In the fine tradition of Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders, and Will Ferrell, Team Chaos will add a new chapter to their growing sports legend by expanding their repertoire this summer. The team will look to take their success on the ice and transfer it to the playing field with the first ever Team Chaos Coed Softball Team!”
After a moment of stunned silence, the reporters let loose a barrage of questions. Can the members of Team Chaos, their razor sharp hockey skills honed to perfection through years of intense training, make the transition to the complex world of slow pitch softball? What position will Lou Difulvio play? What color will the jerseys be? Are the Chaos prepared for the intense competition of the Westminster Coed Recreational Softball League, renowned throughout the sports world for crushing the spirit of unprepared teams?
In response to the flurry of questions, Coach Avery could only talk about his excitement about trying a new sport. “This will be a big change for our players, but I’m confident we can make the transition fairly quickly. I hear the game is a little different, but we’ll lace up the skates and be just fine.” Informed later that softball is played on a grass and dirt field, Avery noted “Hmmm, I guess we’ll have to come up with some other kind of footwear. Maybe some sort of ‘shoe’ would make sense. I’ll do a little research online and see what I can find out.”
With spring training already underway, the team is already trying to make up for lost time, putting together a roster and getting out on the field to learn the intricacies of this new game. The roster will include some familiar names, along with a number of new faces, looking to become a part of the team and add a new chapter to the Team Chaos legacy.
Stay tuned to your newsletter and www.HockeySkate.net in the weeks ahead for more information about Team Chaos and its new Coed Softball Team.
