Three-Peat Celebration
This week, the Chaos continued celebrating their historic third consecutive championship, with a tickertape parade in downtown Denver. Riding on the top of a double-decker tour bus, the players waved to hundreds of fans who lined the streets during lunchtime on Monday. Asked to comment on how it feels to be this close to a 3-time championship hockey team, one excited onlooker remarked “I’m just heading over to grab a sandwich during my lunch break.”
“Well, I’m sure we would have gotten a bigger fan turnout if the parade was actually sanctioned by the city…or was announced ahead of time. The fact that we had to share the bus with a tour group from Norway may have confused our fans, as well.” commented Head Coach George Avery.
Following the parade, the team is planning a trip to the White House for a photo-opp with the President. A team official noted that “While we haven’t actually received our official invitation yet, we know the President is a busy man and we’re sure it is just lost in the mail.”
With another successful season coming to a close, what lies ahead for the Chaos?
Rookie Joe Lochi is still gearing up for the launch of his reality dating show, “For the Love of Joe”. “We’ve had a few setbacks now that the writers’ strike is over,” said Lochi. “The network said something about being able to develop quality programming now that the writers are back, so they have put our show on ‘permanent hiatus’ for the moment. My agent assures me this is a Hollywood term used to describe outstanding shows that will be on the air very soon.”
Another Chaos player will be taking to the airwaves this summer, when season-long healthy scratch Lou Difulvio joins the cast of “Dancing with the Stars.” Joining Difulvio on the show will be a list of marginally known celebrities, including the actor who played Huggy Bear on the old TV Starsky & Hutch, the rhythm guitarist from the 80’s rock band Loverboy, the first player voted off of Survivor Season 2, and the Denver Broncos superfan known only as the Barrel Man.
Defenseman/General Manager Steve Richter will once again be picking up his tennis career, as he considers another run at Wimbledon in late June. “I hear Pete Sampras is considering a comeback,” said Richter. “I’ve been looking for a rematch with him ever since our five set marathon at the U.S. Open in 1990.”
Coach Avery also hinted at some interesting plans he has for the team during the offseason. “We’re working on a little surprise for our players and fans,” said Avery. “I can’t comment on the specifics yet, as the details are still being worked out. But, we should have an official announcement within the next week or two. It’s going to take Team Chaos to a whole new level.”
